What the price covers
- The fare is fixed before departure: traffic and night trips do not change it
- Pickup at the airport and cruise port — the driver waits with a name board
- If your flight is delayed we wait as long as needed, at no extra cost
- A child seat on request, and no surcharge for luggage
- Pay in cash, by card or by bank transfer; no prepayment required
We do not drive through the Boot
Transit through the Saatse Boot is closed, and the government has decided it stays closed. Our route uses Estonian roads only: via Värska and Sesniki, with the last kilometres partly on gravel. A new bypass road has been under construction since May 2026; until it opens, we use the temporary detour.
In short. The Tallinn to Saatse transfer costs €170 for the whole car — up to four passengers with luggage. About 285 km and 4 hours via Tartu and Värska. Departures at any hour, no surcharge for nights or luggage.
The road through the Saatse Boot is closed since 10 October 2025: about 900 metres of the Estonian Värska — Saatse road ran across Russian territory. We take the detour via Sesniki, on Estonian soil only, without crossing the border. The journey time already allows for it.
Saatse has a pedestrian border crossing with automated control, but it is no substitute for Narva or Koidula. Check at politsei.ee in advance whether you can use it with your documents.

The Saatse Boot
What the Saatse Boot is and why the road is closed
A boot-shaped piece of Russian territory cutting into Estonia. Because of it, the road to Saatse ran through Russia for decades — and now it does not.
- ≈ 115 ha
What it is
About 115 hectares of Russian land shaped like a boot, reaching into Estonia near Saatse. A stretch of the Estonian Värska — Saatse road about 900 metres long ran straight through it.
- until 2025
Transit without a visa — with rules
For decades people drove these 900 metres without a visa. The rules were strict: no stopping, no getting out, no walking, and no photos or video.
- 10.10.2025
The road is closed
The Police and Border Guard Board closed the passage after armed groups were seen on the Russian side of the Boot. The government then decided the road would stay closed: Estonians should not have to drive through Russia.
- 2026
A new bypass road
Since May 2026 the Transport Administration has been building a bypass entirely on Estonian territory — 4.7 km through the villages of Korela, Lutepää and Sesniki, with work planned for about six months. Until it opens, traffic uses a temporary detour via Värska, Matsuri and Sesniki.
The car
What you travel in
2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid: four passenger seats, climate control and a boot for two large suitcases plus hand luggage. The road to Saatse is long and ends on gravel, so the car runs on winter tyres in winter and with working air conditioning in summer.
Kirill is at the wheel and answers WhatsApp and Telegram himself: you arrange things directly with the person who drives you. He speaks Russian and gets by in English. A stop in Tartu or Värska on the way is free — mention it in advance.
