When going via Pskov is cheaper
If you travel alone and without heavy luggage, the combination with a change almost always comes out cheaper than a direct car: from the border, a transfer to Pskov for ₽3,000 and then the Lastochka train or a bus; towards the border, the same in reverse. The direct car wins for four people, with suitcases and children, and when control dragged on and there is no time left for a change.

Send the direction, the crossing and the date. Going to the border — your address in Petersburg; coming from the border — roughly when you expect to clear control. A trip this long is arranged in advance: you will not find a car at the crossing.

From Petersburg: an early start
We pick you up at the address and drive via Luga and Pskov — about five hours. The crossings work in the daytime, roughly 7:00 to 19:00, but the hours change, so check before you travel. Leaving at five or six in the morning gets you to the crossing by ten or eleven with time to spare for the queue and control.

From the border: met at the checkpoint
The driver waits at the exit on the Russian side — at Kunichina Gora or Shumilkino, whichever you cross. On the way we stop to stretch and have a coffee; the time is already included.
